Toyota India has launched the new Etios Liva in India at a starting price tag of Rs 5.24 lakh (Ex-showroom, Mumbai). The new model is offered in four petrol and four diesel variants. Changes are limited to cosmetic upgrades while mechanically it continues to be powered by existing engine options.
The new V-shaped front section of the Etios Liva features a redesigned grille, black accents and chrome inserts. For sportiness the air dams have been blackened out and it also houses the fog lamps. The sides appear more or less the same except for minor changes in the form of new alloy wheel design and electric folding door mirrors. As for the rear, the bumper has been redesigned and has received chrome inserts. The rear tail lamps have also been tweaked for freshness.
The interior features new ivory and black dual tone dash board, tubular structured seats with fresh contours, centre armrest and a digital tachometer in the instrument cluster. Under the hood, the Etios Liva continues to be powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine which generates 78bhp of power and 104Nm of torque, while the diesel version is powered by a 1.4-litre engine which generates 68bhp of power and 170Nm of torque. Both the engines come mated to a five-speed manual transmission, however the clutch in the diesel variant has been tweaked for smoother operation and reduce clutch pedal effort.
The new Toyota Etios Liva also features reworked suspension system for a better drive experience. In terms of safety, it gets ABS as standard and also gets ISOFIX mounting points which offer additional safety for child seats. Moreover, it also gets new side-impact reinforcements for enhanced safety. As for the current model, it will be available in base G variant till stocks last and will cost about Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000 cheaper than the newer model.
