The American car maker Chevrolet, has reduced the price of its premium SUV, the Trailblazer. The price cut makes the car affordable by Rs 3.19 lakh. Priced at Rs 28.09 lakh previously, after the price reduction, the SUV is now available for Rs 24.90 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai).
The price cut by the manufacturer is at a very interesting point of time. You have the facelifted Trailblazer, the launch of its rival - the new Toyota Fortuner and Ford cutting cost of the Endeavour. Therefore, Chevrolet might want to clear the stocks and make way for the facelifted model in India with the price cut.
Launched in October last year, the Trailblazer was never able to achieve a notable sale in India, it being a CBU, whereas its competitors are manufactured in India. It doesn’t even have the all-wheel-drive option and a proper manual transmission, which competent rivals like the Endeavour, Fortuner or even the Pajero Sport come with. Therefore, only 48 units of the SUV were sold in the last nine months.
Available in a single LTZ ATtrim, Trailblazer is powered by a 2.8-litre four-cylinder diesel engine which produces 197bhp at 3600rpm and 500Nm of peak torque from 2000rpm. The six-speed automatic sends power only to the rear wheels. The seven-seater comes with a body-on-frame chassis, it has a ground clearance of 241mm with dimensions of 4,878mm in length, 1,902mm wide and 1,838mm of height. The new version of the Trailblazer was unveiled at the2016 Bangkok International Motor Show and hopefully, it will arrive in India soon.
