      Diesel price hiked by 50 Paise, Petrol remains same

      Effective from 1st October, 2015, diesel price in the country has been hiked by about 50 Paise a litre, while petrol price has been left untouched. Announcing revision in prices, Indian Oil said, “The current level of international prices and INR-USD exchange rate warrant a price increase, which is being passed on to consumers with this price revision. The movement of prices in the international oil market and INR-USD exchange rate shall continue to be monitored closely and developing trends of the market will be reflected in future price changes.”

      As against the current cost of Rs 44.45 per litre for diesel in Delhi, it shall now cost cost Rs 44.95 a litre. In other states the price would vary depending on Octroi and other prevailing tax rates. In Mumbai, diesel now costs Rs 52.08. Whereas, in Chennai and Kolkata it would be Rs 46.08 and Rs 48.71 respectively. This time around the petrol price has been left untouched and the last time it was revised was on 1st September when it was reduced from Rs 61.20 to about Rs 63.20.
