Hyundai, the South Korean automaker, is working on the Eon facelift, which is likely to Go on sale in 2015-16. The vehicle has already started testing in South Korea, where Hyundai has its head quarters. First launched in 2011, the Eon is 3 years old in the market and is yet to receive its first facelift in the market. The only major addition given to the car was the new 1.0-litre petrol engine.
It is one of the cheapest Hyundai cars available in India. It competes against the likes of Maruti Alto 800, Datsun Go and Chevrolet Spark. Many more budget cars are expected to hit Indian market in 2015. Nissan will launch the Datsun Redi Go based small car, while Renault is gearing up for the launch of XBA compact car next year. In order to compete well in the growing entry level segment, Hyundai is coming up with the facelift of the Eon hatchback.
The Hyundai Eon facelift is expected to get updated front fascia. The vehicle is likely to feature new bumper, slightly modified grille and headlamps. At the rear, the vehicle gets tweaked bumper and tail lights. It will be based on Hyundai’s Fluidic design philosophy. Mechanically, the Hyundai Eon facelift is expected to remain unchanged and will continue to be offered in two petrol engines. Currently, the Hyundai Eon is available in both 800cc and 1000cc petrol units, coupled to a five-speed manual gearbox. The vehicle is also offered with a LPG fuel option.
