Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has been the second best competitor in the Indian automotive sector. The Korean carmaker created a stir in the hatchback segment with the recent launch of the stylish Elite i20 hatchback. The company has reportedly been producing about 10,000 units every month, but owing to surplus demand many customers have been forced to await for the vehicle delivery. While speaking to sources, Rakesh Srivastava, Senior vice-president for Marketing and Sales, Hyundai, stated that the company is likely to increase the production numbers in the coming months, thereby indicating that customers may not have to wait longer to drive their favorite car.
Since the Elite i20 launch the carmaker has reportedly received about 4,68,184 inquiries and about 1,03,960 bookings. The company has already sold about 1,00,000 units of the stylish hatchback. The vehicle is available in petrol as well as diesel trims. The petrol version is powered by 1.2 Liter engine that is capable of generating about 83ps of power with a peak torque output of 114 Nm, whereas the diesel trim is powered by 1.4 litre CRDi engine that is capable of generating a peak power output of about 90ps and a peak torque output of about 220 Nm.
The hatchback is loaded with safety features like Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), reverse parking camera and four passenger airbags. As for exteriors the vehicle gets projector headlights, cornering lights, LED daytime running lights, and roof rails. The hatchback is available in the Indian market at a lucrative starting price tag of about Rs. 5.23 Lakhs (Ex-showroom, Delhi).
