Hyundai launched the mid-life update for the Grand i10 India. Dubbed the 2017 Grand i0 it is priced in the range of Rs 4.58 lakh to Rs 7.32 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The updates to this car are cosmetic but include a new 1.2-litre diesel engine as well. Now considering how the Grand i10 and Xcent were launched, we can expect the same time line here. Ahead of its expected debut here are some things to expect from the Xcent compact sedan.
1.2-litre diesel engine
The Hyundai Grand i10 facelift debuted a new diesel engine which now produces 74bhp/190Nm of torque as compared to the older 1.1-litre unit’s 71bhp/175Nm. Out of the two increase, the hike in torque is expected to improve mid-range as well as the car’s ability to lug weight around when the boot and cabin are full. In the real world, it will also improve fuel efficiency figures.
Touchscreen infotainment system
The top-of-the-line SX variants are expected to get the seven-inch touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay as well Android Auto support. The mid-level variants will get a five-inch system. This was being offered as an optional extra on the outgoing models and is now part of the standard equipment.
Revised design
The revised Xcent will sport the same face as the 2017 Grand i10. This includes the new front bumper, grille, LED DRLs and fog lamps. However, we believe that the rear end will stay the same it will involve too many changes which is likely to boost the price higher than expected.
Climate control
Like the Grand i10, this too will get the option of fully automatic climate control and rear AC vents on the top-of-the-line models. We believe that the mid-level models will get the current car’s top-of-the-line AC system as an upgraded offering.
Rear arm rest with cup holders
To boost the image that the sedan is a premium vehicle as compared to the hatchback, we believe that Hyundai will offer a rear arm rest with cup holders. This combined with rear vents is expected to improve the premium factor the compact sedan.
