Jaguar currently offers the XJ and the XF sedan in long wheelbase form, but now it seems that the brand is about to give a similar treatment to the entry-level XE. Spotted recently on test, this stretched version of the regular XE will be sold specifically in China where long wheelbase vehicles are in high demand.
The long wheelbase version of the XE will be called the XE L. Its wheelbase will be extended by 12cm for more room in the rear. Whereas the regular XE is imported into China, this will be a locally made model which will allow Jaguar to sell it at a lower price point.
Under the hood, engine options will include a 200bhp, 2-litre turbo, a 240bhp 2-litre turbo, and a high performance 340bhp 3-litre turbo V6. The Jaguar XE L will compete against other long wheelbase luxury sedans like the Audi A4 L, Mercedes C-Class L and the BMW 4Li.
