Mahindra & Mahindra Limited, India’s leader in utility and commercial vehicles production, has embarked upon a series of utility vehicles and pick-up trucks’ launches in the emerging market of Kenya.
The automaker is gearing up to enlarge its overseas market along with targeting higher exports by expanding its vehicle offerings. For the Kenyan market, the new launches comprised of its flagship sturdy SUV, Mahindra Scorpio followed by the company’s highest selling muscular SUV, XUV 500 and the pick-up range included Genio Pick-up and its two-door mini truck, Maxximo.
Mr. Sanjay Jadhav, Senior General Manager, Exports - Africa & Middle East, Mahindra & Mahindra commented that Kenya is a strategically pertinent market in the African continent and since the utility vehicles and the pick-up trucks badged under Mahindra’s name has sought wider and positive acceptance in the markets of Europe, Egypt, Central and South America, South Africa and Australia, the company is confident of achieving the same stature in Kenya also.
Simba Corporation has been appointed as a dedicated and sole dealer for dealing in Mahindra vehicles for Kenya, which conducts its trade operations under Xylon Motors. The outlet will not only offer the complete Mahindra’s Kenyan portfolio but will also render servicing facilities along with an exclusive after sales department for supplying components and accessories.
Among its overseas markets, the South African market has always proved as a major contributor to its exports and Kenya will be one of few markets where Mahindra has launched the trendy and hefty SUV, XUV 500.
