The ageing Xylo from Mahindra's line-up might be replaced by an upcoming seven-seater product under development. This might be a bigger TUV with front-facing third row seats.
There is no official statement from the company about this product, but knowing Mahindra has applied for TUV500 as a trademark, we can expect it to be named as Mahindra TUV500. The present TUV300 gets small jump seats in the boot which might be replaced by a third row of proper front-facing seats. Since the TUV300 is based on the shortened version of the Scorpio, the carmaker can extend this platform to accommodate the third row.
Coming to the sales performance of the Xylo, the MUV couldn't replicate the success of the Scorpio or the Bolero. Knowing the Xylo has come of age, it wouldn't be surprising if the car is replaced by the upcoming TUV500. The latter should not only be better looking than the former with an SUV-like and not MUV-like appearance, but also be feature-packed and offer a flatter ride unlike the Xylo.
