Speaking more on the occasion, R S Kalsi, Executive Director for Marketing and Sales, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI), said, “We are planning to increase the prices in the range of 2-4 percent across our entire range of products from January. It was in October 2013 that we had taken our last price hike. We have been absorbing the impact of higher input costs for quite some time now but we did not hike the prices because the market was not doing well.”

Apart from Maruti Suzuki, other leading carmakers in the country like Hyundai Motors has announced a hike in prices by about Rs. 25,000 across its models, whereas BMW has announced a hike in price across its fleet in India by about 5%. Brands like Mahindra and Mahindra, and Tata Motors have hiked prices by about 1-2% citing higher input cost.
