Our spy photographers have caught the facelifted Mercedes-Benz C-Class in Germany. This newest version retains the sedan's overall shape, but the carmaker has updated it with some cosmetic changes.

For now, there's not a lot that we can say as Mercedes has done an impressive job of covering their changes. However, we are sure they will be giving the front bumper a thorough revamp, since that's the only hidden part of the car. So, we can expect restyled air intakes, while the LED headlamp design seems to draw inspiration from the E-Class. Apart from the slight chrome on the side skirts, the rest of the sedan appears unchanged from the current production model.

Mercedes might also update the interior of the C-Class with an infotainment system housed within a dual screen set-up as seen in the E-Class. We can expect new upholstery, restyled buttons and leather trim options to differentiate it from the existing model.

The automaker might bring in some changes to the powertrain options of the sedan as well. Earlier speculations suggest that the new 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine from the E-Class might be employed in place of the present 2.1-litre oil-burner. On the petrol engine front, the current turbocharged four-cylinder mill is expected to be continued. Transmission options will also remain the same with seven- and nine-speed automatic gearboxes on offer.

As for when we’ll see this new C-Class fully revealed, we're not sure. But this prototype looks close to production-ready, so we could see a debut soon, perhaps sometime next year. The revamped C-Class with design cues from the E-Class will give it a fresh look as compared to its current model. The latest iteration of the C-Class might be launched globally in 2017 and then make its way to the Indian market as well. It will then compete with the Audi A4, BMW 3-Series and the Jaguar XE in our country.
