BMW has launched the updated X5 SUV in India at a starting price of Rs 70.90 lakh (ex-showroom price). Launched in five and seven seat layout, the vehicle has been launched in diesel variant only for now. BMW dealers have been accepting bookings of the new X5 for a while now at a token amount of Rs 5 lakh and deliveries will commence by the first week of June. A 3.0 litre diesel powerplant is packed inside the vehicle that belts out a maximum power output of 255 Bhp along with a top torque of 57.1 kgm. This is the same engine that currently does duty in the BMW 530d and 730d saloons. New X5 has received a couple of cosmetic touch ups on the exterior front including an enlarged front grille and head lights.
BMW has also tweaked the interiors of the new X5 SUV, among the new additions an array of new features like a 10.5 inch iDrive screen, a modified dashboard, and various others are included. The successor model possesses enhanced dimensions as compared to the previous model, as it is 29 mm longer and 5 mm wider than its predecessor.
BMW has adopted all possible measures to reduce the weight of the SUV by 5 kgs which further enables to deliver improved fuel efficiency. Introduced as a completely knocked down unit in India, BMW will assemble new X5 at its manufacturing unit. Standard features being offered on the new X5 comprise of a self-levelling rear suspension, air suspension and electronic damper control. Besides this the vehicle will also come with Bluetooth connectivity, cruise control, braking function, four-zone climates control and Harman Kardon sound system.
