Honda Cars India seems aggressive with its product expansion plans for the Indian market. The company is currently focusing on increasing its dealership network. Interestingly, Honda is also planning to start a new production facility in Gujarat; however, nothing has been officially said about the same. The Japanese car manufacturer is also planning to launch a series of new products in the country including the new generation Jazz hatchback, new compact SUV, new Accord sedan, Civic and Amaze facelift in 2015-16.
The first product to hit our market will be the new generation Honda Jazz. If reports are to be believed, the production of the hatchback is already commenced while the launch could take place in the first quarter of 2015. Showcased at the 2014 Delhi Motor Show, the new generation Jazz hatchback will see heavy localization which helps the company to price it competitive.
The new generation Honda Jazz is 15mm longer than its predecessor and the wheelbase is increased by 30mm, which makes it spacious. The flared wheel arches have been fitted to new five-spoke alloy wheels. It is based on the same platform that also underpins the new City sedan. The interiors of the hatchback shows the company’s popular “Man Maximum Machine Minimum” design philosophy.
The new Honda Jazz will be offered in both petrol and diesel fuel options. While the petrol motor is the 1.2-litre i-VTEC unit that is good for 87bhp and 109Nm of torque, the oil burner is the 1.5-litre i-DTEC unit that produces 98bhp and 200Nm of torque. A five-speed manual transmission would come as standard, while the CVT gearbox will be offered as an optional.
