Hyundai has discreetly launched the 2018 i20 Active in India for a starting price of 6.99 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new model has been introduced in India right after the recently updated model was introduced for the European market. Mechanically it continues to be powered by existing engine options, while changes are limited to new interior and exterior upgrades. The i20 Active offers an additional 50mm of height over the regular Elite i20.
As for what’s new, the 2018 i20 Active comes with dual-tone body paint schemes in the top spec version. It is available in three dual tone options – blue with polar white, brown with black and white with black. The front bumper features a silver scuff plate, while the trapezoidal grille is flanked by the circular fog lamps has been retained from the older model. The cross hatchback gets projector headlamps and LED DRLs.
As for the interior, it now gets a bigger seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system along with new upholstery and body-coloured accents on the seats as well as the dashboard. Mechanically, it continues to be powered by existing petrol and diesel engine options. The 1.2-litre petrol generates 82bhp and 114Nm of torque while the 1.4-litre diesel engine churns out 89bhp and 220Nm of torque. The petrol gets a five-speed manual while the diesel offers a six-speed manual gearbox.
