BMW India has launched all-new seventh-generation 3 Series in India, priced from Rs 41.40 lakhs to Rs 47.90 lakhs (ex-showroom India). The executive sports sedan is available in three trims across two powertrain options. The new 3 Series is based on the advanced CLAR platform, which also underpins 5 Series and the recently launched BMW 7 Series facelift.
Internally codenamed as G20, the new BMW 3 has grown in dimensions and has become lighter than the outgoing model. The design is all-new, and the redesigned LED headlamps are a departure from the ‘angel-eye’ headlights that were a distinguishing design trait of BMW. The kidney grille is bigger than ever before, and the front and rear bumpers are all-new too.
Step inside, and you instantly notice the driver-focused dashboard layout that we have come to expect from BMW. The new platform means cabin space has increased a fair bit, although, the boot space remains unchanged at 480 litres. The new 3 Series features an 8.8-inch floating infotainment system as standard, while a 10.25-inch unit can be had optionally. The system works in conjunction with BMW’s iDrive system. BMW is also offering an all-digital instrument cluster as standard.
Some of the features include three-zone climate control, leather upholstery, rain-sensing wipers, rear parking camera with auto brake and parking assist and much more. Under the hood, the new 3 Series will employ 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engines from the previous-gen model. The 330i turbocharged petrol model 258bhp, while the oil burner churns out 190bhp in the 320d trim. The motors power the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The all-new BMW 3 Series continues to compete against the likes of Audi A4, Mercedes-Benz C-Class and the Jaguar XE. The ex-showroom prices for the new BMW 3 Series are as follows -
320d Sport - Rs 41.40 lakhs
320d Luxury Line - Rs 46.90 lakhs
330i M Sport - Rs 47.90 lakhs
