Mahindra, the leading two-wheeler manufacturer has showcased a number of interesting concepts and attractive designs, which are based on the Centuro. The paradox is one of the models will be up for sale. The concepts, which have been showcased, include a café racer as well as a Scrambler.
Mahindra is definitely trying to make efforts to showcase its commuter motorbikes as something stylish. The manufacturer has collaborated with private customisers to showcase two concept varieties at the 2014 Autocar Performance Show. The models were based on the 110 cc Centuro, which was exclusively displayed at the Auto Expo earlier this year. Incidentally, the new concepts which were displayed were a Scrambler and a Café Racer model.
Mahindra Café Racer has been done by the JC Moto and has been exceptionally made for the purpose of track racing. The bike has been given an ultra-lightweight design with a reduction of 20 kilograms when compared with the Centuro, on which it is based. Construction-wise, the bike uses glass fibre and aluminium and the frame has also been shortened to keep only the bare essentials. The Café Racer has been provided with a custom-made fuel tank, clip-on handlebars, glass fibre seat hump and the styling has the typical touch of yesteryear café racers. A custom headlamp with LED front and LED tail lamp with rear indicators adorns the frame of the bike. The Café Racer runs on the same 110 cc MCi-5 engine and has been provided with inverted forks, frontal disc brakes and a free flow air filter with exhaust running on new spoke wheels.
Mahindra Scrambler has been done by Bombay Custom Works, which again has only the essentials on the frame, making it more dirt-friendly and designed for the roads. Designed in a matte-green finish, with a customised seat and tank-pad, this bike has an increased ground clearance of 3 inches. The motorcycle has also been provided with a swept exhaust to keep out the water. A custom-designed rear suspension, upraised mudguards, wider handlebars as well as knobby dirt spec wheels have been provided on the bike to take on the grave and dirt-ridden roads. When it comes to the mechanical aspects, the frame of Centuro has been slightly altered to give it a shorter outlook. However, there have been no changes to the 110 cc MCi-5 engine, which is capable of churning out a power of 8.5 bhp.
