An avid CarTrade reader, Ankit Dehar, has sent us a bunch of spy pictures of the upcoming Chevrolet Trailblazer that he spotted on Manesar Gurgaon highway. Scheduled to launch in 2015, the Trailblazer SUV will be brought as CKD, and then assembled at company’s Halol manufacturing facility.
The India-bound model of the SUV will be powered with a 2.8-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine that will be mated to a 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions. This engine delivers a maximum power of 200bhp, while yielding a peak torque of 470Nm. The SUV will also be available 2WD and 4WD drivetrain options. That said, the company might introduce a smaller capacity 2.5-litre engine for the base trim of the Trailblazer to price it aggressively.
Coming to the features, the Tailblazer will be equipped with several advanced connectivity and comfort features such as Chevrolet’s MyLink touchscreen infotainment system with Mobile Connect for Android and iOS, a dash camera with 32GB memory, leather seats and rear view mirror and reversing camera with chromatic LCD monitor. On the exterior, the SUV will feature LED projector headlights, 18-inches alloy wheels a Camaro-inspired blue LED illuminated cluster and LED taillights, similar to the Philippians-spec model.
The Tailblazer will be 4,878mm long, 1,902mm wide and 1,834mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,870mm. Features like 4X4 drivetrain with limited slip differential, hill start assist, hill descent control, an electronic drive mode select system and 800mm water wading capability with a 3-ton towing capacity will aid to off-road capabilities of the SUV. Feature like ABS (anti-lock braking system), ESC (electronic stability control), EBD (electronic brake-force distribution system), engine drag control, traction control and airbags for driver and co-passenger will also be on offer.
The 2015 Chevrolet Trailblazer will compete against the Mitsubishi Pajero, Hyundai Santa Fe Toyota Fortuner and the new-generation Ford Endeavour in India.
