Renault India is working on the next-generation Duster that will most likely come out sometime in 2017. The second-generation Duster will resemble its existing facelift, which is available only in international markets. Though, the SUV might get more contemporary styling with a few cosmetic updates.

The 2017 Duster will be based on a new ‘modular’ platform that could be Renault-Nissan’s CMF (Common Module Family) architecture. The new model will be longer, slightly wider and taller than the current model. The new-gen Duster will be available with two seating configuration – the standard 5-seater and a 7-seater. The model that rendered here is an extended version of the SUV, i.e. 7-seater.

Having a longer wheelbase, the Duster 7-seater will measure 4.5 meters in length, while the regular model measures 4.3 meters. It has a 2 + 3 + 2 seating layout that can accommodate seven adult passengers with ease. The new model might get its styling inspiration from the Duster Oroch concept, which was unveiled at the Sao Paulo Motor Show. It will be lighter than the current model, and get Euro 6 compliant engines. Though, there is no clarity if the Euro compliant engines will be made available on India-bound model or not.

While the Duster 5-seater is expected to launch sometime in 2016, the 7-seater version might launch in 2017. Upon its launch, the 2017 Renault Duster will take on the likes of Mahindra Scorpio and others in the segment.
