Datsun GO had faced a lot of criticism last year when it poorly faired in safety test conducted by Global New Car Assessment Programme (GNCAP). This has also resulted in poor sales for the vehicle in country. This time around Datsun has introduced driver side airbag in its Go T(O) trim at a lucrative price tag of about Rs. 4.38 Lakh, which is about Rs. 16,000 extra over the existing T variant.
Additionally, Datsun has also stated that the vehicle now gets a higher grade sheet metal that offers better rigidity to the vehicle's structure. The Swift hatchback from Maruti Suzuki on the other hand had also scored low in terms of safety, however the company is yet to come up with a safer option for its customers in India. In the European market, the Maruti Suzuki Swift has relatively done better owing to delivering vehicles that comply to local norms.
