The hype around the launch of Hero HX250R has been incredible and aficionados across the Indian market have been awaiting its entry into dealerships. However, in a development that is not likely to bring smiles on their faces, the arrival of this bike has been delayed and is not going to take place anytime soon. India’s number one bike manufacturer Hero MotoCorp has been aiming to introduce a bike for international markets but the bankruptcy of EBR has prevented it from moving ahead with its development. EBR is Hero MotoCorp’s partner in the HX250R project and its bankruptcy has proven to be a huge deterrent.

A report by Autocar Pro suggests that the project involving the launch of HX250R is in latter stages and Hero MotoCorp might be looking for funding from external sources in order to Go ahead and complete production. Unfortunately for Hero MotoCorp, its own centre for Research & Development has not been completed yet and its operations are likely to begin only in the last months of 2015. Initially, Hero MotoCorp had aimed for a late 2015 or early 2016 launch for HX250R but this situation has jeopardised the entire activity and stalled the project. The shut-shop of EBR has put Hero MotoCorp on the backfoot and it might not launch HX250R for at least another year now.

The Hero HX250R was first unveiled in 2014 at the Auto Expo, where it received an excellent response. This bike is powered by a 249-cc engine capable of delivering an output of around 31 BHP and top torque of 26 Nm. There are two modes of riding available in the Hero HX250R, namely Economy and Power. Furthermore, a wet weight of around 139 kgs ensures that the power-to-weight ratio of the bike is favourable for high efficiency.
