Ford Motors, the well appreciated American auto maker, seems all prepared for the launch of its much anticipated compact Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) EcoSport in the Indian auto market. Reportedly, the model will sparkle at the Indian shores before the end of June 2013. Also, the auto maker is gearing up for the launch of EcoSport in Nepal. Recently, the Indian arm of Ford Motor organised a media drive in the country, wherein a number of journalists were invited from all over the world to get behind the wheel of EcoSport before its official launch. Interestingly, the auto maker is also planning the launch of EcoSport in the auto market of Australia in December 2013.
Ford India has already stated that the auto maker's local manufacturing plant will roll out the EcoSport for a number of right hand drive markets, including Australia. Therefore, Nepal is also expected to get a made-in-India Ford EcoSport, once the model will be launched in the country. The official distributor of Ford in Nepal, Go Ford, is likely to showcase a demo version of the compact SUV at its Thapathali based showroom. It must be noted that Ford Motor's upcoming model has already created much hype before its launch worldwide. The model has been designed on the company's much renowned B-segment platform
Coming to the auto market of Nepal, the EcoSport is anticipated to be offered in three different engine, similar to India, 1.5 litre diesel, 1.5 litre petrol and the much fawned upon 1.0 litre EcoBoost petrol. Industry experts are of a view that the model will be introduced in 4 trims, which will cater the demands of different section of society. Reportedly, only the 1.5 litre petrol engine variant will be assimilated to a six-speed dual clutch automatic transmission system, along with an option of five-speed manual gearbox. The remaining two engine options will be packed with the normal five-speed manual transmission system.
Keeping in mind that the compact SUV has been produced using more than 80 per cent of the localised components, auto analysts are anticipating that the model will be priced in a bracket of Rs. 6 lakh and Rs. 9 lakh.
