Ahead of its official launch on February 14, Japanese automaker Honda had revealed features for the upcoming City’s top-spec ZX variant. The new model will get fresh cosmetic as well as feature upgrade, while mechanically it will continue to be powered by existing engine options. Until now, the VX variant was offered as a top-spec version, which now sits second to top of the line ZX trim.
In terms of features, the top-spec City ZX variant additionally gets LED headlamps with daytime running lamp and LED assembly at the rear. The top-spec model will also get R16 diamond cut alloy wheel and one touch open and close electric sunroof. Additionally, the new variant will get premium upholstery along with new 7-inch touchscreen audio, video and navigation system. As for safety, the Japanese automaker Honda has offered six airbags which includes dual front, side and curtain airbags.
Under the hood, the new model will continue to be offered in petrol as well as diesel engine options. The 1.5-litre petrol engine variant comes mated to five speed manual and an optional CVT automatic gearbox. The diesel variant on the other hand also gets a 1.5-litre engine which comes mated to six-speed manual transmission. Like the current generation, the petrol variant is expected to generate similar power figures of 115bhp and 145Nm of torque, while the diesel version is also expected to generate similar power output figures of 98bhp and 200Nm of torque.
The City sedan has always been an important product for Honda in India and with the fresh facelift version slated for launch next week, the automaker can expect to see a further rise in overall sales. Loaded with fresh upgrades and improved quality, the new model will compete against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Hyundai Verna, Skoda Rapid and the Volkswagen Vento.
