Scheduled to launch on July 21, 2015, Hyundai’s much-awaited global SUV – the Creta – has been spied testing several times in India. The production of the Creta has already been commenced at the company’s Chennai plant.
Seen here are the sypshots of the base variant and top-end model of the compact SUV, revealing their exterior details. The base version of the Creta features a LED daytime running lights, halogen headlights and fog lights on the front end. The side profile gets steel wheels with full wheel covers, body-colored door handles, body cladding and wing mirrors with integrated turn signals. Though, it misses out the chrome grille, chrome-embellished registration plate enclosure and rear wiper/ washer.
The top-spec model, on the other hand, gets a chrome grille, projector headlights with LED daytime running lights, chrome door handles with smart entry, 16-inch alloy wheels, a chrome element for the registration plate enclosure and a micro antenna and rear wiper/ washer. The Creta will measure 4270mm in length, 1780mm in width, 1630mm in height, and will feature a wheelbase of 2590mm.
Powering the Hyundai Creta will be the Verna’s 1.6-litre, VTVT petrol and 1.6-litre CRDi diesel engines. The former will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox, while the latter will get a 6-speed manual transmission. The compact SUV is expected to get front-wheel and rear-wheel drive system.
Expected to be priced within range of Rs. 8 lakh – Rs. 12lakh (ex-showroom), the Hyundai Creta will take on the likes of Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano, and the upcoming Maruti Suzuki S-Cross.
