The entry level sedan segment is all set to welcome a new guest in the form of Hyundai Grand i10 sedan. This car has created quite a buzz in domestic auto market and was earlier expected to be showcased at the Auto Expo 2014. But considering the curiosity of auto aficionados, the South Korean auto major has decided to pre-pone its launch to 4th February. Yes, indeed this car is expected to mark its advent among all the company's dealership where it will be the new jewel in Hyundai's league of precious innovations. Also, Grand i10 sedan will mark Hyundai's re-entry in the respective segment as it had earlier launched its iconic Hyundai Accent as an entry-level sedan, which was then discontinued. Auto experts are envisioning humongous success in the laps of this car and the same ideology has been implied by the company.
All new Hyundai Grand i10 sedan will be based on the company's iconic hatchback Grand i10 and will inherit much of the characteristics from its sibling. Former will share the same wheelbase as the latter, except for a slightly elongated body to accompany the boot. Also, it is highly expected by the company to employ its impeccable fluidic design in the framework of this sedan. Furthermore, the front grille is believed to have a glimmering chrome plate carrying the company's iconic logo. Also, its rear will flaunt a similar chrome trim on the boot lid and a stylish exhaust. LED's are expected to be lumped on front and back for better lighting. Fog lights will be equipped on the revised front bumper and fenders are expected to be upgraded.
At interiors, this sedan will acquire all necessities comprising the modern day requirements of Indian customers. Leather stitched finely embroidered upholstery will perfectly blend with the snazzy dials on the main panel. Cooled glove compartment is expected to arrive with this car along with multi usage small compartments on dashboard. Options of power windows and steering with a new infotainment system will be standard in all variants. However, it is likely that top-end models of this sedan will have the provisions of a touch-screen entertainment panel with Bluetooth support with navigation. They will be assisted by height adjustment driver seat and most likely with the option of a sunroof. Rear seat can be reclined to create an extra space in the already commodious car.
Under the hood, this sedan will be tapped with an option of 1.1-litre U2 diesel and 1.2-litre VTVT petrol engines. Also, sources are surmising that 1.4-litre diesel unit from Hyundai i20 will also be equipped on a later stage. Notably, the abovementioned engine capacities are same as carried in the ongoing Grand i10 hatchback. So, it is expected that these variants will deliver same performance in the sedan except for minor tuning. The latest U2 diesel technology is the chief reason due to which the Grand i10 sedan was granted the award of Car of the Year. Company strongly asserts that this technology will accomplish similar feats in its new sedan as well.
Coming to the price range, Hyundai Grand i10 sedan is expected to fall in a bracket of Rs. 5.2 lakh – Rs. 7.5 lakh. This competitive pricing from the company has been decided keeping in mind its rivals Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire, Honda Amaze, Ford Classic and Chevrolet Sail. While first two models have been extolled on global standards for their exemplary achievements, the remaining two are still striving hard to stabilise themselves in the domestic auto market. Interestingly, no other company has divulged its plan to embark on the entry-level sedan segment, as of now. Such a fact gives strong edge to Hyundai as the company will be facing minimal adversaries. One must not forget that Hyundai is the country's second largest car manufacturer where it just lags behind Maruti Suzuki India Limited. It has a steady repute of a trustworthy and reliable brand among prospective buyers. Such attributes will ultimately add to the existing hype of Hyundai Grand i10 sedan and this car will certainly attempt to achieve new records.
