The Mahindra TUV300 (Tough Utility Vehicle) that was unveiled on August 3, 2015, has been spied testing ahead of its launch in September, 2015. Set to rival the Ford Ecoport and Tata Sumo, the Mahindra TUV300 will be manufactured at the company’s Chakan production facility.

The spied model could be the base variant, since it features black front and rear bumpers, steel wheels and black door handles. Similar to the other Mahindra cars, the TUV300 features a glossy black appliqué, a rear mounted spare wheel and vertically stacked taillights. The spyshots suggest that the compact SUV could be offered with the seven-seat configuration. Its design is claimed to be inspired by a battle tank.

Based on a new hydroformed ladder chassis, the Mahindra TUV300 will be powered by an all-new 1.5-litre mHawk80 diesel engine that is mated to a 5-speed manual and an optional AMT (automated manual transmission) gearbox. This powertrain is expected to deliver an estimated power of 80bhp and 240Nm of torque. The 2WD (two-wheel drive) system will come as standard feature. Mahindra claims that this engine offers superior refinement and NVH levels.

Features on offer will be center console with polygonal cluster, 2-DIN music system with Bluetooth, AUX-in and USB connectivity, a large central screen with touchscreen infotainment system, LCD display unit, red backlight and chrome bezels around the control switches and dials and air conditioning, power windows, new steering wheel design, etc.

The Mahindra TUV300 is expected to be priced within the range of Rs. 6.5 lakh – Rs. 9 lakh (ex-showroom).
