Maruti Suzuki has realigned the pricing strategy of their Crossover SUV, the S-Cross, to ensure better sales. Maruti has dropped the prices of the S-Cross by as much as Rs 55,000 for the base 1.3 variant to Rs 2.05 lakh for the top-spec 1.6-litre variant.
The sales figures of the S-Cross have been considerably low by Maruti Suzuki sales standards in India. Maruti Suzuki has managed to sell close to 17,000 units of the S-Cross in a 6-month period, 90 per cent of which are the 1.3-litre DDiS 200 variants. The lack of a dealership network for the Nexa branded products could be a reason for the low sales figures.
The Base 1.3 Sigma which was priced at Rs 8.34 lakh before is now available at Rs 7.79 lakh. The Zeta and Delta, Zeta and Alpha variants of the 1.3 that used to cost Rs 9.15 lakh, Rs 9.99 lakh and Rs 10.75 lakh will now cost Rs 8.49 lakh, Rs 9.59 lakh and Rs 10.29 lakh. (All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi). The Zeta has the least discount which indicates that it was one of the most popular variants of the S-Cross on sale. While, the 1.6-litre DDiD320 engine powered S-Cross that was priced from Rs 11.99 lakh now gets a Rs 2.05 lakh price-cut. The Delta variant is now available at Rs 9.94 lakh while the Zeta costs Rs 10.94 lakh and the Alpha Rs 11.69 lakh as against the Rs 12.99 lakh and Rs 13.74 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi)
The Maruti Suzuki S-Cross competes against the Renault Duster, Hyundai Creta and the Ford EcoSport. Maruti Suzuki also recently inaugurated their 100th Nexa dealership in India.
