The launch of Maruti Suzuki’s new premium hatchback Baleno is just a couple of weeks away in India. While there have been several spyshots, the latest ones offer the best sneak peek into the hatchback’s exterior details. The spied model is the Delta variant that features a rear wiper, hidden Suzuki badges and ‘Autumn Orange’ exterior paint job. Though, it lacks LED daytime running lights and alloy wheels.
To be available in four trim levels – Delta, Sigma, Zeta and Alpha – Maruti Suzuki Baleno will be powered by a 1.2-litre VVT petrol and a 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine. While the former churns out a maximum power of 84PS at 6,000rpm and 115Nm of torque at 4,000rpm, the latter one offers 75PS at 4,000rpm and 190Nm at 2,000rpm. Transmitting power to the wheels will be a five-speed manual and a CVT (continues variable transmission) gearbox. The hatchback rides on 16-inches wheels wrapped with 195/55 R16 tyres. The Baleno is 3,995mm long, 1,745mm wide, 1,500mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2,520mm.
The top-end variant of the hatchback will be equipped with projector headlights, touchscreen SmartPaly system and reverse parking camera. While, features like gear shift indicator, front power windows, tilt steering, dual front airbags, central locking, anti-lock braking system (ABS) and electronic brake-force distribution (EBD) will come standard. The available exterior paint options include - Premium Urban Blue, Ray Blue, Granite Grey, Solid Fire Red, Autumn Orange, Metallic Premium Silver and Pearl Arctic White.
To be positioned above the Swift, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno is likely to be priced between Rs. 6 lakh – Rs. 9 lakh (ex-showroom). At this price, the Baleno will take on the likes of Hyundai Elite i20, Honda Jazz and Volkswagen Polo.
