Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), the country's largest passenger car maker, has launched a limited edition variant of its Omni van in the domestic market. The Omni has been one of the company's best selling vehicles in the past, and is presently the oldest Maruti product available in India. Pegged as one of the most versatile Multi Utility Vehicles (MUVs), the Maruti Omni limited edition was long due.
The new limited edition Omni model comes trimmed with several interesting additions in both interior and exterior settings. On the outside, the van gets a left hand side Outer Rear View Mirror (ORVM) that was missing in the normal model. Further, the special edition Maruti Suzuki Omni features a number of exciting interior trimmings, such as CD player auxiliary port input, 4 way speakers, floor mats and new seat covers.
The limited edition Omni van comes fitted with a 3-cylinder, 796 cc, F8D petrol motor, which belts out a peak power output of 37 bhp, along with a maximum torque delivery of 62 Nm. The engine assembly comes mated to a four speed manual transmission system.
At present, Maruti Suzuki has three MUVs in its domestic portfolio, comprising Omni, Eeco and Ertiga. The Eeco can be considered an upgraded version of Omni, while the most expensive of the lot- Ertiga is the most visually appealing MUV among the three. The Maruti Omni is also offered in dual fuel petrol – LPG version to the domestic audience.
