      Maruti Suzuki reports 13.8 per cent year on growth in May 2015

      The number one brand in the Indian car market, Maruti Suzuki, posted a growth percentage of 13.8 (year-on-year) in the month of May, 2015. According to statistics released by the firm, it sold 114,825 units in May, 2015, which is 13.8 percent more than what it had managed in the corresponding period last year. Also, the total of 114,825 units is a combination of domestic sales (102, 359) and exports (12,466).

      Maruti Suzuki is best known for its hatchbacks Alto and WagonR, which reported a growth of 20.6 per cent in May 2015. As per the report, the firm sold a combined figure of 35,062 units of both these models as compared to May 2014, when it had sold 29068 models. Though there was good news for Maruti Suzuki in the Mini category, the Compact class, including Swift, Ritz, Celerio and DZire models, reported negative growth of 5.7 per cent.

      Despite decline in sales of compact vehicles, the launch of Ciaz model has certainly helped Maruti Suzuki boost up the numbers for May, 2015. In comparison with May, 2014, when it only had SX4 in the mid-size segment and sold 121 units, Maruti Suzuki clocked 5012 units in the same period this year, thereby delivering a growth of 4042 per cent. Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, launched in October, 2014, has managed to perform really well. It has, in a way, marked Maruti Suzuki’s entry into producing classy vehicles to compete with the likes of Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Nissan Sunny.
