In order to achieve the pole position in the highly competitive luxury car segment, Mercedes-Benz is planning to launch 15 new models in the Indian car market this year. Audi is, currently, ruling the luxury car segment of the country. The company has imported a couple of units of the E400 Cabriolet in India, indicating that this will be one of the 15 new cars planed for the Indian market.
The Mercedes E400 Cabriolet is powered by a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine that churns out a maximum power output of 329bhp at 6500rpm and a peak torque of 354Nm at 3500rpm. This engine is coupled to a seven-speed automatic transmission. The car accelerates to 100kmph from zero in just 5.3 seconds.
The E400 Cabriolet offers more power than the E-Class sedan. Sharing styling with the E-Class, the Cabriolet features an electrically powered fabric top. The fully-electric soft-top can be operated at speeds up to 40kmph. It is equipped with Mercedes latest COMAND interface. The E400 has AIRCAP, which is a retractable deflector on the top edge of the windscreen. AIRCAP forces the airflow upwards at higher speeds, which significantly reduces the in-cabin noise when the roof is down.
Like the Audi A3 Cabriolet, the Mercedes E400 Cabriolet will come as CBU (Completely Built Unit) units. It is expected to get feature like Attention Assist, a collision-prevention system, active cruise control, lane-keeping monitor and cross-traffic alert.
