The Renault's all-new small car, codenamed XBA, is now a week away from its global debut in India, and the company has released a promotional video. Though, the video, #LiveForMore – More Fun, doesn't show the car, it reveals its unveiling date.The Renault XBA, to be called Kayou, will be the first car based on the modular CMF-A platform in India.
Powering the small car will be a new 800cc, 0.8-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine, which will offer an estimated power of 45bhp – 50bhp. This engine will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox, though an AMT (automatic manual transmission) might be offered at a later stage.
The spyshots, snapped a few days ago, revealed that the hatchback will feature 13 – 14-inches wheels wrapped on slim rubber, single wiper blade and black wing mirrors. Built on Renault’s global design language, the Kayou will look attractive than most cars in its league. Inside, the car will feature front power windows, driver airbags, speakers, mobile charging point etc.
While the Renault Kayou has been developed at the Chennai-based Renault Nissan Technology Business Centre India (RNTBCI), its production will take place at Renault Nissan alliance facility in Oragadam, Chennai.
Set to rival against the likes of Hyundai Eon, Maruti Alto 800 and the upcoming Datsun Red-GO in India, the new Renault Kayou could be offered within price range of Rs. 3 lakh – Rs. 4 lakh (ex-showroom).
