In a bid to strengthen the position of their compact hatchback range Liva in the Indian market, the Indian unit of Japanese auto giant Toyota is looking forward to launch new more powerful 1.5L Etios Liva in the country.
The decision of launching a new Liva 1.5L will be taken in a bid to eat-in the market share of the best selling premium hatchback Maruti Suzuki Swift, what has been enjoying a long fan following and high waiting periods since its launch in the country.
Though the Etios is registering considerable sales figures in the Indian market, the company is now planning to shift the gears with enabling the car to compete more promptly with the rivals. The new generation Etios Liva will be upgraded on both cosmetic and engine fronts.
It is expected that the 1.5 L engine will be directly borrowed from its sedan sibling Etios, which delivers a peak power of 90 bhp. The current 1.2L Liva engine generates a maximum power of 79bhp. The new powerful Liva is expected to come blessed with the Sportivo’s body kit, wider tyres and enhanced interiors.
