Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM), Indian subsidiary of the Japanese car maker, has released its sales report for the month of May, 2015, during which it has witnessed a slight decline of two per cent. According to the report released by TKM, it managed to sell 12,965 units in the month of May, 2015, which is less as compared to the figure of 13,228 that it clocked in the same period last year. To be a little more specific, TKM sold a total of 11,511 units in the month of May 2015 as compared to 11,831 units in May, 2014.

The firm, in a statement, said, "There was limited production this month on account of planned annual plant shut down scheduled from 29th May to 6th June, for regular maintenance. The impact will thus be felt in the next month's production as well." Toyota introduced Camry in late April, 2015, and sold over a hundred units of the premium sedan in May, managing a 51 per cent growth figure.

Speaking on the marginal decline in sales, N Raja, VP for Sales and Market at TKM, said, "The newly launched Camry has shown great success and acceptance by customers this month. The Hybrid market though still at a nascent stage is beginning to gain popularity among Indian customers."

Though the report on its sales in May 2015 brought negative news for TKM, it was named as the number one brand in the Top 100 Most Valuable Global Brands for 2015 by equity database BrandZ.
