BMW has issued a recall of their i8 hybrid sportscar in the United States of America. The issue affects the dynamic control unit which may potentially affect the stability of the car. BMW has said that only 16 cars have been affected by this issue as some holes in the hydraulic unit that helps dynamic control system have been improperly drilled. This may result in the restricted movement of one of its pistons which may cause reduced stability under braking and may lead to a crash. The said units were produced between May 29 and June 5, 2015.
BMW has issued a recall and will begin inspecting the affected cars form February 10. The issue will be rectified free of cost for the customers. While there has been no word about any of those cars landing in India, if you own an i8, you can certainly Go to the nearest dealer to find out if your car is on the list. BMW had recalled over 200 units of the i8 in 2014 owing to a possible fuel leak.
