Toyota Innova has been a Multi Purpose Vehicle (MPV) segment leader for many years now. Some of the major reasons for this are its tough build quality and amount of space on offer. However, it is possible that soon the market leader may experience tough competition from the upcoming Chevrolet Enjoy.

Enjoy was first seen at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo and is expected to be a seven to eight-seater that would be available between Rs. 7-9 lakhs. It is expected to be powered by a 1.3 litre diesel engine and a 1.4 litre petrol engine. The petrol version would produce 94 bhp, whereas details of the diesel variant are not available yet. As the Chevrolet Tavera Neo3 is largely targeted at the semi-urban audience, the larger Enjoy would be exclusively for the urban customers. Safety features such as dual airbags for driver and front passenger, seat belts having load limiters and Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) will be available, but these may be optional. Just like the Innova, the Enjoy will also get AC vents for the second row passengers.

On the other hand, the Toyota Innova is available at a higher price range of Rs. 9 lakhs to 14.5 lakhs. Similar to Enjoy, it can also seat 7-8 passengers. However, Innova scores heavily in build quality and in engine performance. It has more than 15 different variants which are powered by a 2.5 litre diesel engine and only a single 2 litre petrol variant is available. Diesel variants generate a power of 101 bhp and the petrol version develops 131 bhp. Though the diesel engine of Innova is much larger than Enjoy, there is only a minor difference of 7 bhp power between both the vehicles.

Exteriors of Innova have undergone some changes, which have made it look more appealing. Headlamps are more angular now with a lining of chrome on the front grille. New skirting and curvy design have been given to the sides of the vehicle. Ground clearance of new Innova has also been raised to 176 mm. Its steering wheel is leather covered and so is the gear knob. Build quality of this model is top notch, which is just as expected from Toyota. A 6-inch touch screen infotainment system has been provided in the vehicle for watching DVDs and its audio system now supports Bluetooth connectivity.

Toyota Innova is definitely the more established player in the market. It has created an impression of solid build quality over the years and it is popular not just with tour operators but with private users as well. Industry experts feel that it will be hard for Chevrolet Enjoy to deliver competition to Innova. Industry experts believe that despite being more expensive, it will still be more popular than the Enjoy.
