      Hyundai Xcent, Honda Amaze and Maruti Swift Dzire - A comparative study of sedans

      Sedan lovers are spoilt for choice when it comes to buying a new car. There are so many models available in the Indian market that often selecting a single one is quite a task. It is thus better to make a comparative study of similar models. Let us look into the technical specifications of three popular names in this category, Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent and Maruti Swift Dzire.

      When it comes to the pricing aspects, all the three have a comparative value. The Honda Amaze is priced is Rs 6.2 lakhs, while Hyundai Xcent is priced at 5.9 lakhs. Swift Dzire is placed in between the two at Rs 6 lakhs. The pricing has been done in such a way to keep in mind the budget constraints of the average middle class Indian car lovers. Honda Amaze is powered by a 1498 cc 16V i-DTEC diesel mill, which is capable of churning out 98.6 bhp at the rate of 3600 rpm. The maximum torque output of the car is 200 Nm at the rate of 1750 rpm. Hyundai Xcent is powered by an 1120 cc 12V CRDi engine. It generates 71.01 bhp at the rate of 4000 rpm and a torque of 180.4 Nm at the rate of 1750-2500 rpm. On the other hand, the Swift Dzire from Maruti has been provided with a 1248 cc 16V DDiS diesel mill, which churns out 74 bhp at the rate of 4000 rpm. The net torque output of the car is 190 Nm at the rate of 2000 rpm. All the cars have been provided Four-Wheel Drive option and transmission duties are done with the help of a five-speed manual gearbox.

      When it comes to the mileage, the Hyundai Xcent returns 18.9 kilometres per litre on the city roads. On highways, Xcent returns 24.4 kilometres for a litre. Honda Amaze is slightly higher in terms of mileage with 21 and 25.8 kilometres on the city roads and highways, respectively. However, the clear winner in this aspect is the Maruti Swift Dzire with 22.4 kilometres and 26.59 kilometres for a litre, respectively.
