      Land Rover Discover Sport to get new Ingenium diesel engine

      Land Rover, the British car manufacturer, will introduce a new 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel engine on the Discovery Sport. The existing 2.2-litre diesel engine will be replaced with the new Ingenium motor globally from September 2015. The new powertrains will be tuned for two power states - 148bhp and 178bhp. The former will be badged as TD4 150PS, while the latter one as TD4 180PS.

      Claimed as the most efficient Discovery model, the Ingenium TD4 150PS powered variant will be assigned as an E-Capability vehicle, and get a blue badging. The E-Capability trim will 5-seater, while rest of the variants of the Discover Sport SUV will be available in 5 + 2 seating configuration. It will be assembled with 18-inches wheels and low rolling resistance tyres that aid to its fuel efficiency.

      The more powerful 180PS version will be mated either with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 9-speed automatic gearbox, whereas the 150PS model will get a 6-speed manual transmission. Furthermore, Land Rover added an HSE Black model to the Discovery Sport lineup with additional visual enhancements and privacy glass, along with the regular HSE-spec model.

      The Land Rover Discover Sport will come to India in August 2015, and is expected to be offered in HSE top-variant only. Initially, the company might introduce the car with a 2.2-litre diesel engine, tuned for two power outputs – 147bhp and 187bhp – and replace it with the Ingenium diesel motor at a later stage. The SUV will be assembled locally, and expected to be priced between Rs. 42 lakh – Rs. 50 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi).
