      Yamaha YZF R3 launching tomorrow

      Yamaha India is all set to launch the much-awaited YZF-R3 in the country tomorrow (August 11, 2015). Unveiled at the 2014 EICMA, the Yamaha YZF-R3 will be imported from Indonesia, and then assembled locally with CKD (completely built up) kit. It will take on the Kawasaki Ninja 300, KTM RC40 and others in the segment.

      Power for the Yamaha YZF R3 comes from a 320cc twin cylinder, liquid cooled engine that is paired to a 6-speed transmission. It produces a maximum power of 41bhp at 10,750rpm and a peak torque of 29.5Nm at 9,000rpm. It is capable to accelerate 0-60kmph in 2.89 seconds and 0-100kmph in 6 seconds. It offers a top speed of 187kmph, and has a fuel tank capacity of 14–liters.

      This sportsbike draws its design inspiration from the Yamaha YZF-R Series. Its 2.09m long, 720mm wide and 1.13m tall, and has a wheelbase of 1,380mm. The ground clearance of 160mm makes it compatible for the Indian road conditions. The bike weighs 169kgs, and rides on 17-inches, 10-spoke alloy wheels that wrapped with 110/70 front and 140/70 rear rubber tyres. It comes equipped with diamond-type frame with telescopic forks up front and monoshock rear suspension system. The R3 draws its braking power from the 298mm front and 220mm rear disc brakes, coupled with an optional anti-lock braking system (ABS). Other fitments include a digital analogue console, dual headlights, silencer, etc.

      The Yamaha YZF R3 is likely to be offered within the price range of Rs. 3.5 lakh – Rs. 4 lakh (ex-showroom).
